Show and tell is the part of our meetings that is so much fun. We all eagerly show all the work we have been doing since the last meeting. All the quilts are so beautiful and we are so proud of the quilts we make. The thing that I love about our guild is the help and encouragement that we get. Whenever we work so hard on a project and bring it for show and tell everyone makes you feel so good about it and that encourages you to do more and sometimes tackle a more challenging quilt. I look forward to our meeting each month and go home ready to start a new project. I love you quilting ladies.

Guess who won the door prize. Doreen!. What lovely fabric. |
For our August 2012 guild meeting, we broke from tradition and had our meeting at the Inn at Paris Landing State Park. In one of the large conference rooms, we had a guest lecturer. Irene Reising is a nationally known prefessional longarm quilter from Paducah KY, and she brought with her Bobbe Green. Irene and Bobbe created the second place winner of the "group" quilt catagory at the AQS quilt show in Paducah this spring. Together, they have collaborated on several quilts, with Bobbe doing the piecing and applique, and Irene doing the quilting and surface embellishments. After a show and tell of their fantastic quilts, we had a wonderful lecture on machine quilting. After lunch at the Inn's dining room, we had a hands-on session with the APQS Freedom quilting machine that Irene brought for our presentation. We had a wonderful time and saw some wonderful quilts, and got inspired to try some new or different techniques. We're hoping to have Irene come and give us a class in the future.

After show and tell we had our row robin reveal and there was some beautiful quilt tops and surprised quilters.
A row robin is a quilt exchange where each quilter designs the first row of a quilt. Then place it in a bag and each
month they are exchanged until each quilter has a chance to design a row on that quilt. Then when everyone has
had a chance to design a row then we reveal the finished quilt top. It is so much fun because you are always surprised
with the finished top. |

Someone is going to be upset that they showed up in this picture but I could not show this picture without her in it.
You can fuss at me at the next meeting. |
|
This is me when my quilt top was revealed. I was so excited. |
|
And her is my finished top. Isn't it beautiful? It is going to hang in my living room when I get it quilted. |

This is Irene Reising, our guest lecturer, she shared her beautiful art quilts with us and also some very interesting tips and techniques. She also shared a wonderful testimony of how God healed her and it is easy to see that testimony working through her quilts. |
